The urban and site conditions call for the proposal of an autonomous system tilted 45º towards strict orientation and protection against noise and views. Compacity of the building is qualified by its porosity, luminosity and interior fluidity, and also by its relation with the new perimetral garden that thanks to the work with topography becomes a second ground floor. The insititutionnal character of the center is underlined by the rigor on the constructive, structural, metric systems, and the limited use of materials where we can mention stone, wood and white concrete that gives the modular step to the whole.
The building has also the services needed to make a assistential area of 20 beds and day center, and also a part of research with laboratories, classrooms, administration and auditorium.
The recuperation of the “mat-building” mechanism, used in 1967 very near to the site at Valencia’s fair by Le Corbusier’s partner Guillermo Julián de la Fuente, establish the relations with site limits. On the other hand, the reinterpretation of the skylights fills the inner space with uniformous light at every level, and that together with the presence of nature and the contact with ground, seeks the conviviality of common and outside spaces. All together proposes a reference model, as it was asked in the competition.
